budget allocation

budget allocation

Even after following the correct procedure that is go to data then respective category and edit and then advanced, budget tab is disable and shows that fixed amount of Rs 0. This can not be changed. Pls advice how to rectify this problem

Attached is a list of all stages + print screens. Please let us know if it helps.

1. Press the "Data" tab and then "Categories". Select the category you want to define budget for and press "Edit".

2. Press the "Advanced" button at the bottom.

3. You can define a different budget to different periods. Select the relevant period and then "Edit" (or press"Add" to add a new period)

4. Set the monthly budget. Expense budget should be marked with minus.
for example, if you plan to spent $700 on food per month you should write -700 (with minus).

5. Press "Confirm" to return to the list of budgets for the category.

6. Press "Confirm" to save the category and the defined budget / budgets.

Thank u so much. I could allocate budget based on ur instructions. Now the problem is that I put Negative sign before budget figure in each category. As a result the income figure in analyse is not coming correct. It is more than actual amount. Sometimes analyze does not show anything saying that there is no action in that period which is not correct.

Budget of "Expense" categories like food, transportation, health and so on should be with negative numbers.
Budget of "Income" categories like salary, getting rent etc should be with positive numbers.
In main categories (for example "Expense") you should usually use a budget of type "summarized". This means that the budget of "Expense" equals to the budget of all sub categories together (food+health+transportation etc).

About the "Analyst" screen-
It is based on consumption (and NOT always the date of the action). Please have a look on this video and let us know if it explains the issue:
